contest of love

The words "I love you" are never enough for Sophia. She always has to be the one to love the most. I'll tell her "I love you" and she'll say "I love you more!" If I start out with "I love you more" she'll come back with "I love you to the Kentucky stadium and back!" or some other distance she thinks is great (yes, we have been to the moon and back many times over!). I usually let her "win" and have the last word, while I just smile, knowing I'm the real winner being blessed with my dear family and thanking God for the opportunity to love and be loved.

Well, tonight after she said her prayers, the first thing she said to me was, "This will settle our differences." (what differences? I'm thinking. And I'm also wondering which episode of Little House on the Prairie she must have gotten that from. We own seasons 1-6!) "This will settle our differences," she continued, "We love each other the same!" And again I just smiled, gave her a hug and a kiss, and wished all her life's "differences" could be solved so easily.

sweetly sick

Uh, oh. Look who's sick now. She was up at 5:00 am coughing so hard and I think that's what made her throw up. She was so sweet about it though. She's been sleeping ever since! She woke up long enough for Isaac to give her a little present (a Barbie heart filled with gummies and stickers). He bought it yesterday (after I took him to the doctor!) for her for Valentine's Day, but gave it to her hoping to cheer her up. She opened it, then went right back to sleep.

She lives in this gown Aunt Sheila made for her! I think she's only NOT worn it about 5 nights since Christmas!

can you spell S M A R T?

Sophia is one tough opponent in Hangman! She spelled these words ALL on her own, and even put them backwards (so when they're flipped, they're the right way). She totally had me stumped on VITAMIN! I had all the letters but the V and the N, and I just knew she must've done something wrong! I was *almost* hanged! Oh! And her third word was CAMERA!

actually dreaming of school

My little baby (okay, big baby) is home sick from school today. Of course he'd be home even if he wasn't sick! He's been camping out on the couch today, actually wishing he was doing school instead. THAT should tell you how bad he feels!

Game day woo-hoo!

Today was a fun day!! Yes, we're big UK basketball fans and they did lose, but we're even bigger fans of number 32, Isaac! His team won their first game today, 21-17, and he scored 8 points! The whole team played well together, which was a welcome relief after the first two games...they only scored 8 points in each. Go Musketeers!

freee-dom!

Looks like she's in prison, but it's actually the freedom of homeschooling!

cutest matching gown duo ever!

I saw Sophia getting Elizabeth ready for bed so I ran downstairs and grabbed my camera!

I snuck in 30 minutes later and caught them having sweet dreams.

a little lunch and grocery shopping date

Aunt Sheila made the most adorable matching coat for Elizabeth! AND she made matching gowns for Sophia and Elizabeth! Hannah made beautiful scarves for both of them, and Elissa made a shirt, jacket and skirt for Elizabeth! Way too cute! It's been lots of fun dressing them alike and they're getting lots of comments when they go out!
I'm starting to think it pays to be a doll...Elizabeth also got a horse from Nana and Papaw and a salon chair from Mom and Dad, and several outfits from Mamaw and Papaw!

cousin clan

Okay, so it's not much of a clan...just 4 of them! Craig has about 30 cousins on his Dad's side!
Cousins Hannah and Elissa visited!

Sophia and Hannah, all smiles and hugs!

Christmas vacation was a busy one but we enjoyed getting together with all the extended families on both sides. Hannah and Elissa even got to stay a few extra days and Isaac and Sophia loved having them around. Me too, of course! Nana and Papaw took the kids out for pizza, then to the Christmas flower display last Sunday.
