This sad little kitten had to stay in today and she was not happy about it.
She's sick AND couldn't go out to play in the snow. Double whammy.

But then her Daddy came along and she began purring again (in between coughs)...

and then took a cat nap.

got game?

Isaac has his game face on.
Photobucket

But he also has reason to smile.
Photobucket

He had an awesome first game today!
Photobucket

He handled the ball great...
Photobucket

He got rebounds...
Photobucket

And he scored 12 (count 'em... t.w.e.l.v.e.!) points! They won 22-16, so that means he scored more than half their points!
Photobucket

But I think someone forgot to tell Nana and Craig that they're here to watch the game, not talk politics.

my cool boy

So let's back up a little. It's a few weeks before Christmas, and Isaac is scouring eBay for a gift for Sophia for Christmas. He spends two hours looking at DOLL CLOTHES. And

the

boy

scores!

I've spent time on eBay looking for doll clothes, and for the most part, I've not been impressed. Isaac, on the other hand, found this great seller, and

spent

his

own

money

buying something for his sister.

For her DOLL.

He could hardly wait to give it to her.

But too bad she didn't like it.

Photobucket

She didn't like it one bit.
Photobucket

And his thoughtfulness didn't stop there! Long (sweet) story short, he bought me a photography book that I devoured (I've wanted it since last April) and he bought his dad some RAM to speed up his computer. Very cool boy, indeed.

a cute little story

I have a million good things to say about Isaac lately, but I'm going to start with the most recent "feel good" story. While Sophia was out at Nana and Papaw's spending the night Sunday Isaac got bored. And then inspired!

He decided to make a basketball jersey for Sophia's dolls. Remember how basketball is the only thing on his mind lately? Well, her dolls are the LAST thing he'd ever want to think about. Or touch. Or be near. But he set his manly testosterone and pride aside (temporarily) to combine his passion with hers to do something really special.

After five failed attempts at cutting up and sewing one of his old T-shirts, he enlisted my help. Together we whipped out (wellll... like 2 hours!) a cute little outfit for a cute little sister who has three cute little dolls. (remember, this is a cute little story)

He could hardly wait for Sophia to get home!
(Wait! What's that she's bringing in?!?)

Emma was poised and ready.

Ahhh, looks like we weren't the only ones making something! Nana and Sophia baked up some pink delights!

Sophia packed up her bags (and Felicity... and Felicity's bags) Sunday afternoon.

She invited herself to Nana's.

Coconut wanted to come too.

I'm missing you, Sophia, but boy, does Isaac have a surprise for you!!!

(reverse) Psychology 101

Photobucket

What is it about reverse psychology that works? Isaac (sort of) recently used it, much to his benefit. He knocked on neighbors' doors offering to shovel their (half-inch!!!) of snow for one dollar. 3 neighbors took him up on it, then ended up paying him $5-$8 each! He was very proud of the success of his plan. And it was definitely a concocted plan.

And I PROMISE I did not use reverse psychology when Honey asked what I'd like for Christmas, and I said "nothing!" I really meant it! But he ended up having his computer friend build me the fastest computer he's ever made! It's big and fast and awesome, and all I said was I didn't want anything! And I really did mean it. (at least until I knew what was coming, then I was allll for it!) So is there such a thing as subconscious reverse psychology? I don't know, but I'll let you know what I get when I tell him I don't want anything for my birthday in March. (That's just plain ol' psychology at work now!)

And I realize the eagle picture I took last April has nothing to do with Christmas or shoveling snow or new (awesome) computers or my great husband (other than the fact he loves bald eagles!), but it's either that or my computer guts.

Oh, why not. Here they are! After all, I did take a picture.

Thanks, Honey! I love it, and you!!

back into the swing of things

glass of bubbly

Was Christmas really 2 weeks ago?! And this dinner almost 3 weeks ago??

It's been hard getting back into the swing of things. Honey took the initiative to take down the decorations last Thursday. Otherwise, they'd probably still be up! Thanks, Honey!

one of those days

California speed bump

Ever have one of those days where you put the milk in the pantry, or the microwave beeps and you answer the phone? Our minds are so full of multi-tasking tasks, that it's easy to happen. And actually, I love it when it happens. But for me, I usually realize it right away, smile big, and go about my day.

Isaac had one of those days today. He brought in the mail and then couldn't find it 30 seconds later. We looked everywhere (where he could have logically put it!). We started to think he was crazy, but then Sophia found it in the drawer. He left the mail key on the counter and stuffed the mail in the junk drawer instead of the other way around. We had a good laugh (all of us but Isaac).

An hour later I opened the refrigerator and saw the pizza cutter and pastry brush lying in there. Isaac had unloaded the dishwasher earlier, apparently while his mind was multi-tasking! He had his first basketball practice last night and that's alllll he can think about!
